Matt Wills works for CCPN Global (UK) as Assistant Editor.
He is currently PhD student, University of California, UCSD, USA. He studied Chinese in the School of Chinese as a Second Language at Peking University in Beijing, with his study funded by a scholarship from the Chinese Government. Prior to this, he read history (focusing predominantly on the history of China) at Trinity College Oxford, graduating in 2012 with a First. As part of his degree, he completed a First-class thesis on the burning of the British diplomatic mission in Beijing in 1967, and went on to present this at the 2012 China Postgraduate Network conference in Edinburgh.
Matt's research interests in China include the history of Chinese politics, the social history of the Cultural Revolution and interdisciplinary/comparative approaches to China. Outside of his studies, he is a prolific collector of ephemera from the People's Republic.
His academic awards include scholarships from the Chinese and Taiwanese Governments, as well as achievement prizes from Oxford University.
